Yes, you need to establish some process to "manage" archived RedoLogs. All archived RedoLogs accumulated between two consecutive online/hot backups should be included into "backup" set. Then you can delete them or keep for a while if space permits. Read on backups for db in archivelog mode.

Do I need to create a process to get them to tape and then once on tape, delete these old archive redo logs through my process? I'm just excited to be able to finally go to archivelog mode. Once I get the basics down then I want to investigate using RMAN.
