Of course, you could give IFS a shot. I would still go with CLOBS if I were you. You can do bfiles, but hten you have to set NFS server and you can retrieve the document only if you have access to something called /docs/oracle/bfile or similar, and that is rather hard to do from an NT station. You can also store an ASCII file as an external table, but that would mean that one document is one table. BLOBS and CLOBS are fast if you know how to handle them. Unfortunately, oracle no longer provides options for storing LOB index.
