This is not Oracle 10i but 10G. It is new Oracle Release which is going to be release during the Oracle Openworld Next Week. So be ready for adventure thru bug again and have fun (????) in reading the Manual again. I came to know some very good features but it is still not finalized [ I can't say until I really use them ] and below are 10 points for new 10G/10i for your reference
- Multiple default Temporarary Tablespace support is going to be available to meet your SQL manipulation
- You can rename Tablespace like Tables
- Transportable tablepsace can be utilized across Platforms using RMAN
- Auxilary SYSTEM Tablespace named SYSAUX is created with Database so as to take care of space issue for your dictionary for special Oracle features. e.g Oracle streams data dictionary is created in SYSAUX instead of default SYSTEM tablespace and so on
- You can now create big single file Tablespace as support is extended to some exabytes [8 exabytes (8 million terabytes)]
- Some extra fast recovery by providing more flexibility to FLASHBACK command as now you might be able to use FLASHBACK DATABASE to bring the database to some prior point in time. There are lots more in FLASHBACK like FLASHBACK TABLE, restore accidently dropped Oracle tables and some new views
- More Dynamic SGAcapabilities by including JAVA_POOL_SIZE as well as some new parameter like STREAMS_POOL_SIZE along with new dictionary views for easy information
- Depreciated MAXTRANS, ROLLBACK SEGMENT [ including Manual UNDO segment management]
- You can create the Reovery area in your database to manage files realted to back and recovery
- SOme Destructive command like DROP DATABASE command which can freed you from DBA responsibility by removing all control files as well as Data files.
Hope full will learn more in the Openworld espcially how Oracle points to Grid computing
