Luc, Its weird. I've seen it both ways. Sometimes, Windows releases the lock and allows you to delete the file, and sometimes it doesn't. Bouncing the database always allows you to do it.

Windows keeps a lock on these files for some odd reason. In a way, it's better than Unix. You can't delete Windows Oracle files while the database is open, but in Unix you can.
