Dharminder, Changes the service to AutoStart when the machine reboots. As Thomas said, the NT service has to be running for you to be able to start the database. The service will stay running even if you shut the database down. Think of the service as a backgrouond placeholder for the database. It needs to be running for the database to run, but you can still shut the database down as normal and keep the background service running.
