Location: Quincy MA Duration: 3-6 months Primary responsibilities: · Managing, Administering and maintaining MySQL databases. · Design and implement a backup and recovery architecture. · Management of MYSQL replication across worldwide data centers, mechanisms to sense and recover from replication errors · Create data manipulation programs/scripts as necessary. · Ensure performance optimization and tune SQL queries. Build processes to alert or block very expensive queries from running · Design and maintenance of high availability solutions using MYSQL databases. · Capacity planning and database strategy
The Database Administrator will be a part of a 24x7 production database support team, environment working heavily with Linux, running MySQL master/master replication. This role offers operational responsibilities as well as design work and team leadership. Qualifications: · Must have strong database concepts (Normalization, etc.). · At least 2 years of MYSQL (5.0) Administration on a large scale. · Minimum of 2 years in any other Database Administration position. · Proven experience with database replication techniques, complexities, automation, monitoring and high-availability strategies. · Very good scripting on Shell or programming in UNIX environment · Skilled at SQL coding · Solid Unix, Linux skills Educational requirements: · Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science or Analytical Discipline preferred) · Desired Vendor Certifications: MySQL CMDBA, CMCDBA · Must demonstrate interest in continuing education through work experience or personal efforts.
