SQL Server/Oracle DBA 6+ month
Bloomington, MN. *Description **:* Provide the following support services for Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and related utilities and tools: RDBMS Selection, Installation, Configuration and New Release Management. Application Support Services for Projects: - Database and Application Design and Usage Consultation (including preparation of Basis of Estimates and participation in project team meetings). - SQL Support (for Construction/Tuning). Application DBA Work (upon request, subject to resource availability). Data Loads Change and Configuration Management: Application Storage Allocation. Creation of database internal data structures. Migration of Databases into Production. Sizing of Databases, Tablespaces, Segments and Partitions. Security/System Administration. To proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services meeting minimum SLAs with little or no downtime. Monitoring/Tuning for Performance and Availability. Work with the team to ensure that resources are properly allocated to the databases to ensure high availability and optimum performance. Excellent understanding of database latch, lock, wait, memory management, shared pool and other internal database constructs and their relationship to performance and 24x7 availability. Backup and Recovery Services. SqlBacktrack, TDP and TSM experience a plus. Definition and Documentation of Standards/Processes. *Skills needed:* At least 5 years consulting in SQL Server or Oracle DBA needed. Experience installing, configuring and supporting SQL Server and/or Oracle database systems following industry best practices. Experience supporting complex database server environments strongly preferred, including: Clustering technologies (Veritas, Oracle RAC, MS Cluster Server, etc.) Database replication (Hot Standby, Dataguard, SQL Server log shipping, etc.) Ccentralized backup/recovery methodologies (TSM, Veritas, BMC SQLBacktrack) Interfaces with centralized monitoring systems (Sitescope,OVO,Grid) performance monitoring/tuning. Multiple environment landscapes including Oracle 10g, 11g and SQL Server 2000, 2005 & 2008. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
