*Job Title* Cognos Developer *Project Location* Portland, OR *Duration* 6 months /Contract *Skills Required and Job Description:* * MOI : TELEPHONIC + SKYPE* This position is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a variety of methods for reporting on and accessing information in the financials and academic data warehouses. This work ensures that the information assets of the enterprise are leveraged to enhance financial and operational decision-making, therefore ensuring competitive business advantages. This position is responsible for implementing information technology solutions such as IBM Cognos that allow users to appropriately generate timely, accurate and comprehensive information for managing our business. As an essential part of this position is responsible for development and deployment of IBM Cognos Business Intelligence software and data structures in support of the shared services. Business requirements gathering through customer workshops, crafting of functional specifications, detailed data analysis & validation, rudimentary report development and creation of an ongoing support plan are hallmarks of this position. The ideal candidate will also possess experience with Oracle’s E-Business Suite. This position will be responsible for ensuring that information in both vendor-supplied data warehouse systems (Cognos, Business Objects, Tableau, etc.) and proprietary systems (notably data warehouses from departmental systems) are available to line-of-business and users. This position is also responsible for detailed technical analysis to assure the availability and accuracy of data contained in the BIMD supported data warehouses and systems. This will include availability for rotation through an after-hours on-call support model as needed for upgrades, project go lives or to provide ongoing support of new systems that may have 24x7 support agreements. This will require a broad knowledge of BI systems and workflows. Work with data warehouse architects, line of-business analysts and users to gather requirements for and provide input into the design of Cognos meta-data and/or reports. Provide complete and consistent documentation of the financial and budgeting data warehouse and ensure that users can determine what data is available in the warehouse, how this data is defined, how to access reports and information, how key metrics are defined and analysis is performed, and standards for the presentation and use of information. Work with data warehouse architects, line of-business analysts and users to gather requirements for and design Cognos metadata and/or reports. Provide complete and consistent documentation of the Oracle EBS Financial modules, and other data sources in terms of module functionality; associated business processes and potential process improvements; and data availability, structures and relationships. Recommend changes to the Oracle data warehouses to accommodate business needs. Work with data warehouse developers, line-of-business analysts and users to define data structures that support and enhance information access. Report Creation & End User Support: Create reports using the Cognos reporting tools as needed. Use the knowledge gained by working with the customers and through prior experience to analyze data in Oracle EBS database, Banner, and other data sources in order to meet reporting requirements. Triage and address issues as they arise based on customer incidents and change requests. Validate Data in the Data Warehouses: Provide support to data warehouse developers, line-of-business analysts and users to validate data in the data warehouse. Investigate and report on problems and work to ensure the validity of the data warehouse. Master’s degree in business or computer science or related field and four years work related experience in the information technology field; OR Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science or related field and six years work related experience in the information technology field; OR Associate’s degree in business or computer science or related field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field; OR Eight years work related experience in the information technology field; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. Experience: Minimum three years of business analyst experience. Experience leading requirements gathering sessions and documenting associated business requirements for large-scale IT projects. Experience planning and managing large-scale IT projects. Minimum three years working in relational databases. Two or more years experience with Cognos, Oracle or Business Objects. Ability to read, write and maintain basic SQL code.
