Here are the details :
The Client has the need to enhance several access-controlled web
applications that function as collaboration websites for one of our
federally-sponsored research programs. We seek a seasoned user experience
designer/developer to help with re-designing and re-developing the user
interface portion of the project including adding a workflow component.
The User Interface (UI) Web Designer/Developer is responsible for planning,
designing, developing, testing, documenting, and implementing the front end
user interface sections of web applications. The position will focus on
improving the intuitiveness and appearance of an existing suite of web
applications and will collaborate with existing software engineers as well
as internal and external project team members to gather requirements,
design, and implement the improvements. This includes responsibility for
effectively presenting information and responding to questions from
non-technical clients as well as technical peers.
*Qualifications *
Bachelor’s degree in graphics design, computer science, or related field.
Successful candidates should possess 5+ years of experience designing and
developing the front-end user interface sections of web applications using
technologies relevant to Client’s development environment.
*Responsibilities:*
· Guide toward a goal of intuitive navigation with a clean,
uncluttered, and attractive appearance that will engage the end user
· Engage with clients to learn their business process and determine
requirements for improving their existing web applications including
developing iterative prototypes as a means of firming up requirements
· Provide User Experience (UX) best practices advice to the team and
apply user-centered design practices to produce cohesive, predictable, and
desirable web site features
· Show relevant example website features and the pros/cons of each so
that the project team may select from among the options
· Plan, design, develop, test, document, and implement the front end
user interface sections of web applications
· Provide technical guidance to the team on how to integrate the
selected features/approaches into our web applications
* Experience with the following is desired:*
· HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, JavaScript & related frameworks (ExtJS, jQuery,
Bootstrap)
· Java templating frameworks & related technologies (Tiles, JSP, XML)
· Knowledge of current Internet standards, including cross-browser
styling and optimizations (Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox)
· Illustrator, Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver
· Subversion code repository
· Basic working knowledge of Apache Tomcat server
*Other important knowledge areas for this position include:*
· Experience working in an MS Windows networked environment
· Experience working on software application development teams
including coordinating with other programmers, adhering to team standards
for development, documenting and managing source code/APIs/ interfaces,
prioritizing needed modifications, and deploying new versions
