*POISITION:  **Linux Systems Engineer**             *

*       *This position is responsible for building, maintaining, and
enhancing development, testing, and production environments. The person in
this position will plan and document systems, respond to all inquiries of
systems to which he/she is responsible. The system engineer will use
intelligence, scripting, and tools to manage change from development to
testing to production environments.

*Essential Job Functions:* (List in order of importance the essential
functions of the job; describe what must be accomplished, not how it must be
done; include supervision or management responsibilities, quality and
quantity standards, physical, mental and perceptual functions of the job.)

·         Troubleshoot problems and respond to inquiries in development,
testing, and production environments, including web servers, application
servers, and database servers.

·         Assist in management of version control system, including user
management, codeline management, branching, and planning for new projects.

·         Enhance the current environment with custom scripts and tools to
simplify and automate tasks, and help Network Operations work more
efficiently.

·         Develop build procedures and occasionally build new servers
following industry best practices and internal security policies and
standards.

·         Ensure availability and integrity of servers and services with
techniques such as performance tuning and system monitoring.

·         Upgrade and patch software to ensure servers are capable to meet
increased demand, and server software is patched for the latest
vulnerabilities.

·         Work with the Information Security Engineer to create and maintain
documentation and procedures for all areas of system management to comply
with information security policy.

·         Reviews capacity planning and performance monitoring of the server
application and hardware.

·         24/7 on call support.

*Minimum Requirements:*  (Include education, experience, special skills and
licenses or certifications required.)

   - Expert with Red Hat Linux with five or more years of experience,
   including kickstart template configuration and deployment.
   - Expert with Apache, including compiling, installing modules,
   maintaining, troubleshooting and providing information to development based
   on proactively monitoring logs and system behavior.
   - Ability to read, modify and write complex administrative scripts in
   Perl and bash.
   - Ability to work with database management systems including Oracle.
   - Knowledgeable of HP, NetApp, Sun and EMC hardware, including
   configuration and implementation.
   - Experience with Version Control Systems including Perforce.
   - Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and experience.
   - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
   - Excellent documentation skills.
   - Mod-Perl, Tomcat, OC4J and Java Experience a plus.
   - B.S. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
   - Additional experience as a systems programmer considered a plus.
