*Work Description:*
- Serve as first point of contact with customers, with primary focus on
resolving the customer’s issue.
- Handle a wide variety of events (problems) in the following technology
area: Mainframe and related applications.
- Monitor internal Network and Systems.
- Recognize, analyze, document, and resolve events (problems).
- Close of escalate the event (problem)
- Effectively use a variety of tools to monitor Mainframe systems and
perform initial problem solving tasks. Tools include HP Service Manager
(HPSM), Mainview, and OPS/MVS.
- Communicate event trends for automation or root cause fix.
- Communicate with customers, co-workers, and vendors, often putting
technical information into layman’s terms.
- Other duties as assigned.
Common Incident Management Tasks but not limited to:
1. Use HPSM to monitor Mainframe system events
2. Use OPS/MVS to enter system commands and manipulate system applications
3. Use system consoles to enter system commands and manipulate system
applications
4. Create HPSM tickets and either solve the problem and close the ticket,
or escalate to the appropriate Support area
5. Effectively communicate with the customer at a level of understanding
appropriate to that customer
6. Relate common issues to through proper channels to automate processes
7. Create and update Knowledge Items as needed
8. Utilize BMC Mainview tools for Mainframe System performance monitoring
