The Solution Architect will perform the following activities:
1. Provide solution architectures, which is the "fundamental
organization of a system and its components in relationship to each other
and the environment, in accordance with the principles governing its design
and evolution"[1]
2. Create the Architecture Document for assigned projects, to include
architecture decisions and rationale for those decisions, models and
diagrams to logically depict the information flows, integration and
consolidation, and interactions between system components and between
systems.
3. Define changes to system interfaces
4. Perform system and network analysis, and modeling
5. Identify and compare alternative solutions, to determine the optimal
solution that will meet business needs within allowed budget
6. Define future architecture enhancements, i.e. logical evolutions of
the system
7. Present and communicate the solution architecture to various
stakeholders, both technical and business, and be able to explain how the
solution design will meet business needs
8. Ensure alignment of solution architecture to Roadmap and strategic
solutions, as well as to Freddie Mac's architecture principles and standards
9. Provide leadership and guidance in following:
o Advise external vendors, business owners, and IT groups regarding
Freddie Mac architecture guideline
o Drive application architectural decisions for the systems under
development
o Lead the applications integration and design discussions among multiple
applications groups
o Influence key decisions for the technical and infrastructure
architecture.
o Advise the system and infrastructure configuration from application
performance, scalability, and capacity perspective.
o Provide guidance to business counterpart, customers, and top management
on requirement pertinent to the technical capability
10. Provide information architecture support to include:
o Identify appropriate data sources
o Propose changes to the canonical data model as needed to support the
project's data requirements
11. Assignments may also require:
o Assist in creating and defining application/technical/information
patterns to be used for business events, as necessary
o Act as counselor to business counterpart, customers, and top management
on requirement pertinent to the technical capability
*Required Skills and Qualifications: *
· Current responsibilities must include producing architecture
deliverables
· At least 15 years experience in Information Technology
· 10 years hands-on experience in solution, technical or
information architecture Strong J2EE background
· Strong development background, with knowledge and hands-on
experience with some of the following technologies including Web Service
API, Integration/EAI technologies like Informatica, ESB, .NET and
related technologies like XML, Database technologies like
Oracle, MySQL, JDBC, SQL, stored procedures
· Strong service-oriented architecture (SOA) background
· Ability to convert business requirements into logical solution
designs
· Knowledge/experience in web-based systems architecture,
service-oriented architecture, enterprise application architecture
· Experience with enterprise integration and modeling tools, ex. ER
Studio
· Experience with creating model-based representations to collect,
aggregate or disaggregate complex and conflicting information
· Knowledge of common data architecture frameworks, principles and
standards
· Understanding of enterprise data models, information
classification, meta-models, taxonomies and ontologies
· Familiarity with Agile (Scrum) project methodology and practices
· Ability to lead/influence issue resolution across various groups
in the organization
