This involves performing incident and problem resolution, standard service requests, infrastructure monitoring and alert response, and consultation with application support and development staff. The individual will be part of a 24x7 on call rotation. Deep experience in Sybase database performance tuning techniques . Ability to identify and correct gaps in standard operation procedures and checklists. Competency in ITIL processes: Incident, Problem, Knowledge and Change Management. Competency in Root Cause Analysis and Cause Mapping Coaching other database administration team members toward a functional understanding of Sybase databases. Ability to assess varying types of incidents and determine appropriate subject matter experts to involve when necessary. Basic scripting knowledge: SQL, Unix shell, Perl Basic awareness of other infrastructure technologies for example, Web sphere.
