Please send me your updated resume in word format along with pay rate details on W2. *Job Title : Senior Database Engineer * *Client : Travelers* *Location : HARTFORD, CT* *Duration : 3 Months Extendable Contract* *Pay Rate : $Open * *Job Description: * SUMMARY Travelers, the second-largest commercial insurer in the U.S. and the third largest writer of U.S. personal insurance through independent agents, is excited to announce the building of a new data center in Omaha, NE. The Data Center Redundancy Infrastructure team is responsible for driving infrastructure design of the new data center and the Senior Database Engineer will be a critical member of that team. The incumbent will utilize their working knowledge of data center solutions to facilitate and drive discussion among appropriate parties. They will gather requirements, design solutions, assist with implementation, and prepare presentations for team and senior management. *PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* - Ensure that the current infrastructure maintains its high performance and availability characteristics while building out a corresponding Disaster Recovery (DR)/High Availability (HA) environment - Work with Business IT areas, Enterprise Architecture, and vendor partners to implement designs dependent on infrastructure services and/or technology - Continually assess critical aspects of infrastructure such as HA and DR robustness, optimal use of existing monitoring & reporting tools, along with adherence to Travelers’ and vendors’ best practices - Understand and adhere to Application & Data Security requirements - Manage Vendors and Technical Service Providers - Assist in the development and documentation of test plans - Continue to improve overall System Performance and Capacity Planning - Support Audit and DR compliance activities *QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:* - BS/BA degree preferred - 5+ years of related data center experience - Technology Background: o Experience building and maintaining a variety of SQL database production systems o Experience designing, building and launching new data extraction, transformation and loading processes o Play intricate technical role on upgrades and ongoing support of all relevant data sources o Support activities include DB installation, maintenance, performance tuning (SQL query, stored procedures & DB engine), troubleshooting/resolving DB problems, DB backups, and insuring DB monitoring is in place to proactively provide alerts to issues o Work closely with DBAs to insure database backup plans are current and complete o Understanding of the overall data process with a deep appreciation for the importance of data integrity o Ability to learn new systems as needed to support data extraction, manipulation and analysis - Strong organizational skills. Ability to handle multiple requests from across the organization - Solid communication and presentation skills. This individual will be interacting with several levels of the organization. Communicates in a manner consistent with the audience - Sound analytical and diagnostic skills. Business impact/risk & cost benefit strategies.
