*Position Description*: This resource will be responsible for the development of a database driven web application intended to function as a comprehensive statewide geological information system which will be used by the Bureau of Topographic and Geologic survey to capture, manage and provide access to geologic data (field and lab findings) gathered by its scientists. The system will be built on a Microsoft technology stack using the MVC design pattern incorporating an ORM layer and stored procedures to handle complex interactions at the database level. The resource will work in close collaboration with team consisting of a project manager, an IT manager, two subject matter experts and possibly an additional developer focusing on the UI. In addition this effort will be aided by a comprehensive document outlining the requirements for this system. *Examples of Work:* - Meet with project manager to review and plan specific deliverables - Review software architecture and development strategies - Code and deploy application components - Review legacy system schema and contents - Meet with subject matter experts and review feedback from end user testing for submitted deliverables - Meet with IT manager to discuss necessary adjustments to IT infrastructure - Participate in periodic progress meetings - Document code and help document designs *Specific Duties:* 1. Serve as the lead developer of the Stratigraphic Database/Application for the Bureau of Topographic and Geologic Survey 1. Participate in database design and implementation 2. Develop and implement server-side code and web based user interface 3. Overall system architecture is envisioned to follow MVC design pattern within a Microsoft technology stack consisting of a JavaScript/HTML front end and an SQL Server back end connected and controlled within an MVC framework consisting of ASP.NET MVC and Entity ORM 4. System will conceptually follow an established set of requirements 2. Update original requirements as necessary 3. Meet with project manager on a regular basis to track and review deliverables 4. Document new designs, interfaces, workflows and code/processes created for this system. 5. Meet with Bureau subject matter experts as needed to ensure system meets all requirements 6.
