The Contracted Oracle Data Architect will evaluate, design and manage
database systems in a web based environment. The Contracted Oracle Data
Architect will provide database and professional leadership to internal and
/ or external project team staff to analyze requirements and define
specifications for database access, structure, functional capabilities,
documentation, security, backup and recovery. The Contracted Oracle Data
Architect will perform validation checks, maintain database dictionaries and
coordinate the installation of new and revised database systems. This
position requires thorough knowledge of relational database systems,
Structured Query Language (SQL) and a working knowledge of referential
integrity, triggers and stored procedures.

 *Business Objectives and Technical Objectives*

Position specifics include:

·         Design and implement a capacity testing and performance and tuning
strategy for MaSSNet  projects using existing MaSSNet PMO methodology;

·         Provide the database structure and mechanisms to optimally impact
the performance and tuning and capacity planning of MaSSNet projects;

·         Interact with PMO Project Managers and Technical Operations staff
as required to support the capacity testing and performance tuning efforts;

·         Install, configure, and support(maintain) Oracle 9i/10g/11g
Database Server;

·         Install, configure, and support(maintain) Oracle 9i/10g/11g
Application Server;

·         Lead Database and Application Server Sizing (capacity planning)
activities;

·         Lead, support HP-Unix server administration support, shell
scripting activities;

·         Where appropriate take responsibility for transferring expertise
to existing DBAs in the usage of Oracle Enterprise Manager 9i/10g/11g to
identify and solve performance problems;

·         Lead database development efforts from design through production
installation providing documentation where applicable for each phase of the
full lifecycle development process on each assigned project;

·         Communicate well with users, application specialists, developers,
technical infrastructure staff and project management;

·         Carry out duties in a manner consistent with a complex, diverse
and dynamic hardware and software environment that serves MaSSNet's
expanding public safety community;

·         Interact effectively (verbally, written, etc.) with users, vendors
and management to ensure the delivery and use of the Oracle 9i/10g/11g
database technology and tools is consistent with agreed upon project goals;

·         Provide evaluation for data warehouse technology and associated
data products; and

·         Ability to provide on-call support as required.
