Blobs are typically images <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image>, audio<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound>or other multimedia <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimedia> objects, though sometimes binary executable code is stored as a blob<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_blob>. Database support for blobs is not universal.
