*Complete Description: *
Petersburg Public Schools is seeking a IT consultant to perform system
network admin duties on all of their local area school networks as well as
manage enterprise equipment. Responsibilities will include:
- Utilize Security Information and Event Manager (SIEM), which is their
tracking tool, to identify, track and manage security incidents throughout
the Petersburg Public Schools enterprise (examples include events reported
by host-based or network-based Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems,
anti-virus alerts, excessive numbers of denials reported by firewalls, etc)
- Determine if security incidence occurred; examine all available
information and supporting evidence related to an incident or event
- Logically determine scope of security event and the potential impact to
schools and network; recommend appropriate course of action for managing
security incidents and participate in the confinement, resolution and
remediation of security incidents.
- Assist with installing and configuring (Checkpoint) firewall repairs
and/or upgrades.
- Manage enterprise equipment to include: addition, modification and/or
deletion of firewall rules; proxy rule sets that are an exception to global
baseline
-IPS/AV signature updates; RADIUS/RSA user and group management; remote VPN
assistance / VPN Management/Monitoring / creation of user accounts/tokens
for remote access VPN
- Monitor Service Center queues for customer reported requests or incidents;
access tickets for applicability and assign to subject matter expert, as
required.
- Research security tools and security alerts, when requested, and share
research within group; communicate with school administration and other team
members regarding security status and participate in the mitigation of
incidents as required.
-Maintain networking equipment to include: patch testing in lab, server
patching, and backup of devices to storage area network; verify and validate
vulnerability scan results are being written to back-end database.
- Provide technical support and assistance to schools and departments in the
selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of computer hardware and
software. Nortel - switches, routers, TLS, upgrades
- Analyze and solve hardware and software problems related to compatility,
networking and configuration issues.
*Environment*: approx 2200 PCs are in the network which include 4 elementary
schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school within the district. All schools
are within 10 miles radius. Travel to these school locations will be
required. Currently 6 people on the network team.
*Required / Desired Skills*
*Question 1: *
Does individual have own reliable transportation? There are several school
sites and work sites that the individual must travel to (all within a 10
mile radius). No add'l compensation for mileage will be provided.
*Question 2: *
Is individual available to work an alternative work schedule while
performing system maintenance or upgrades? PCPS is planning to upgrade their
current firewall which will need to be performed during non-business days or
weekends in order not to have downtimes during school hours. Normal straight
time hourly rates for any/all hours worked will apply (NO time and half
rates or OT rates will be paid). Pls set this expectation with your
consultant.
