*SQL BI/DW Consultant :: Orange County, CA :: 3-6 Months* This individual will work with the Business Intelligence group and internal customers to understand and analyze requirements and develop BI solutions using Microsoft Business Intelligence tools and underlying technologies. The successful candidate must demonstrate a clear understanding of BI and Data Warehouse development methodology/processes, data analyst roles and responsibilities and the analytical deliverables and their derivation, (e.g. data maps, meta data), data architecture, both DWH and OLAP/Dimensional modeling, and ETL architecture and design as well as DWH/BI operating environments and related technologies. Assists in the design and implements data models and database designs, ETL design and development and data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. The successful candidate, must have the ability to, create ad-hoc queries and reports as requested and provide on-going analytical support for these requests; identify data quality issues and support the data governance initiative by participating in necessary activities including data profiling; advanced knowledge of and OLAP/MOLAP technologies and dimensional modeling, including applicability to various reporting problems; hands-on experience with MS SQL Server 2005 suite of products including SSIS, SSRS, SSAS; ability to perform detailed data analysis (i.e. determine the structure, content, and quality of the data through examination of source systems and data samples); extensive ETL knowledge and hands on experience with data warehouse architecture and modeling ranging from UAT, ETL to Operation Data Store (ODS) to Operational Data Warehouse (ODW) and Data Marts; Data modeling, preferably dimensional modeling using star schemas; full project lifecycle experience and experience using formal processes and methodologies; experience in leading/participating in requirements and design meetings with business representatives to detail the businesses data and analytical requirements and design; ability to assimilate, quickly, business process knowledge, both within systems of record and within the BI requirements framework and apply to data analysis, design and ETL design tasks; experience, building BI/DWH solutions, within the insurance sector; and experience with the Microstrategy BI technology suite, specifically designing OLAP structures for Microstrategy deployment and knowledge of Microstrategy schema mapping functions.
