Title: Fixed Income / Java Developer Location: San Francisco,CA Duration: 6+ months. DUTIES : This position is for a Design & Development Engineer in the Global Fixed Income Technology team. The purpose of the team is to develop and maintain a rich suite of front and middle-office platforms. SKILLS : Candidates must have the following experience: Experience in the securities industry: OTC derivatives or Fixed Income (2+ years). Experience supporting business-critical systems (4+ years). Excellent analytical/problem solving skills. Excellent communication/presentation skills. Good sense of prioritization. Demonstrated self-initiative. Experience developing client/server, distributed systems (5+ years). Experience in object-oriented analysis/design (5+ years). Experience in Java Fundamentals (5+ years). Experience in Java ** J2EE (2+ years). Experience in Sybase or equivalent RDBMS (5+ years). Experience in C#Fundamentals (2+ years). Experience in XML (2+ years). Experience in ANT, Continuous Integration Tools, JUnit, cvs, subversion Candidates having the following will have a distinct advantage Understanding of the mathematical models used in quantitative analytics. Experience supporting front-office, portfolio management or trading systems. Experience in working in global teams. Experience in Java Swing. The Fixed Income Business employs a number of investment techniques and strategies using multiple asset classes, including Bonds, Futures, FX, Interest Rate, Credit and Inflation derivatives. The Fixed Income Technology team use multiple technologies comprising Java/J2EE, C#, Sybase, SQL Server and Visual Basic. In addition to this, a range of industry best practices and tools helps the Technology team deliver quality software. The Fixed Income Technology team work closely with the Fixed Income Business to develop and enhance the product suite using a variation on the Agile Methodology and Extreme Programming techniques. Using this, the development team is responsible for all aspects of the development life-cycle. The development team is encouraged to learn and understand the Fixed Income Business so that they can participate in complex discussions with the Business leads. The development team is responsible for the quality of the software they deliver and utilize many industry best practices, for example, unit testing, continuous integration, refactoring, repeatable integration testing and excellent team discussion and knowledge sharing.
