This position is responsible for defining the technology used to deliver
infrastructure solutions. The infrastructure definition consists of network,
hardware (such as computers, memory, and disk space), operating systems,
security, IT run-time tools, middleware (such as web servers and J2EE
containers), and databases.
This position is focused mostly with the non-functional requirements such as
security, performance, scalability, reliability, recovery, and middleware
(such as web servers and J2EE).
Responsible for establishing the infrastructure solutions that provide for
the operations requirements (such as security, monitoring, logging,
starting, stopping, and restarting applications) of the IT organization.
The position will be responsible for defining the security of the operating
environments including identity, access, intrusion, and data management
security.
This position will primarily work with the infrastructure engineers,
systems/storage administrators, and DBAs.
Document Current State - Responsible for documenting the current state of
the infrastructure and security from information gathered and maintained by
the responsible operational organizations. The current state will consist of
at least the hardware platforms, Operating Systems, Security information,
middleware including all runtime environment components, and databases. The
security architecture will include operational functions (e.g. identity
management, access rights management, intruder detection, prevention, and
response), the clear delineation of responsibilities between applications
(built and COTS) and the infrastructure, and definitions of how each of the
components will interact will each other to deliver a managed and secure
environment.
Establish Future State - Responsible for establishing the common set of
technology stacks that provide the engineering solutions supported by
Technology Services that are used to implement the standard solution
patterns.
Establish Guidance - Responsible for developing a set of design principles
that will be used as the basis for architecture governance. These principles
and standards will cover infrastructure, middleware, database, and security.

Establish Technology Solutions - Responsible for defining the technical
environment (hardware, OS, middleware, database) that satisfies a system
and/or application non-functional requirements. Responsible for defining the
technical environment (hardware, OS, middleware, database, tools) that
satisfies the functional and non-functional needs of development project
teams.
Enforce Guidance - Responsible for enforcing the technology stack
implementations, the principles, and standards as part of the architecture
governance.
