Ø The Consultant will have in depth experience and knowledge in all phases
of open system storage and Storage Area Networks. An understanding of
storage arrays, performance characteristics, raid technology, drive
technology, controller technology is a requirement. An in depth
understanding of the DS8000 series of storage as well and the DS 3000 or
DS4000 series is strongly preferred. This includes understanding and
performing firmware updates as needed.

Ø An in depth working knowledge of SAN Fabric technology is required. This

technologies drivers and firmware levels. Experience with Fiber Channel
cabling, patch panels, switches, directors and router technology is
essential. Specific experience with Brocade switches, routers and directors
is strongly preferred. The candidate should have experience with DFCM
Zoning, resetting switches and director ports collecting and packaging
switch and director logs.

Ø Detailed knowledge and experience in storage virtulization using IBM San
Volume Controller is extremely important. This includes provisioning
storage, use of thin provisioning, using all the flash copy functions,
experience using the SVC features for synchronous and asynchronous
replication of data to remote storage. Firmware maintenance and
configuration will also be a required duty.

Ø SAN performance monitoring and reporting responsibilities fall on this
position. The Consultant will be knowledgeable in the installation,
configuration and use of IBM System Resource Monitor, Tivoli Storage
Productivity Center for monitoring performance and storage utilization.

Ø The position requires knowledge, understanding and experience with
Microsoft Windows Server in an x86 environment. The SAN environment
primarily supports MS windows Servers and some MS training is necessary to
help debug performance issues that may be related to combined server and
storage problems.

Ø The individual will lead strategic planning efforts for growth and the
future architectural environment based on BWC needs and technology
development for the storage infrastructure. This will require designing
future configurations and budget pricing for those infrastructure
enhancement that may be implemented over a 3 to 4 year planning horizon.
This will require working with vendors and other Consultants to develop
specifications and cost analysis for new solutions. The designs and
architectural changes will be presented for approval to IT Managers,
Directors and the CIO as required.

Ø The person will need to have a background in disaster recovery planning
and implementation for open system and storage. Sufficient knowledge will
be needed to adapt DR techniques as technology changes dictate.
Recommendations to management will be expected to enhance the overall
effectiveness of BWC’s DR efforts.

Ø He will plan conduct formal mentoring activities for other storage
Consultants in the department as well as other staff that need to understand
