Please do reply to *sind...@boston-technology.com* Location: Columbus, OH Duration: 12 months *Open Systems Storage Infrastructure* * * Ø The Consultant will have in depth experience and knowledge in all phases of open system storage and Storage Area Networks. An understanding of storage arrays, performance characteristics, raid technology, drive technology, controller technology is a requirement. An in depth understanding of the DS8000 series of storage as well and the DS 3000 or DS4000 series is strongly preferred. This includes understanding and performing firmware updates as needed. Ø An in depth working knowledge of SAN Fabric technology is required. This includes Fiber Channel and iSCSI protocols. This includes understanding HBA technologies drivers and firmware levels. Experience with Fiber Channel cabling, patch panels, switches, directors and router technology is essential. Specific experience with Brocade switches, routers and directors is strongly preferred. The candidate should have experience with DFCM Zoning, resetting switches and director ports collecting and packaging switch and director logs. Ø Detailed knowledge and experience in storage virtulization using IBM San Volume Controller is extremely important. This includes provisioning storage, use of thin provisioning, using all the flash copy functions, experience using the SVC features for synchronous and asynchronous replication of data to remote storage. Firmware maintenance and configuration will also be a required duty. Ø SAN performance monitoring and reporting responsibilities fall on this position. The Consultant will be knowledgeable in the installation, configuration and use of IBM System Resource Monitor, Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for monitoring performance and storage utilization. Ø The position requires knowledge, understanding and experience with Microsoft Windows Server in an x86 environment. The SAN environment primarily supports MS windows Servers and some MS training is necessary to help debug performance issues that may be related to combined server and storage problems. Ø The individual will lead strategic planning efforts for growth and the future architectural environment based on BWC needs and technology development for the storage infrastructure. This will require designing future configurations and budget pricing for those infrastructure enhancement that may be implemented over a 3 to 4 year planning horizon. This will require working with vendors and other Consultants to develop specifications and cost analysis for new solutions. The designs and architectural changes will be presented for approval to IT Managers, Directors and the CIO as required. Ø The person will need to have a background in disaster recovery planning and implementation for open system and storage. Sufficient knowledge will be needed to adapt DR techniques as technology changes dictate. Recommendations to management will be expected to enhance the overall effectiveness of BWC’s DR efforts. Ø He will plan conduct formal mentoring activities for other storage Consultants in the department as well as other staff that need to understand the complexities of the storage network.
