Job Description/Posting Information Senior IT Business Analyst
Responsibilities:
A Senior Business Analyst works as a liaison among stakeholders in order to
elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to
business processes, policies and information systems. The Senior Business
Analyst understands business problems and opportunities in the context of
the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to
achieve its goals. In this role, you will be working on websites such as
Staples.com helping to make Staples the #3 web property in the world.
Understand and gather complex business needs and requirements from a
diverse set of stakeholders and be able to effectively compile and document
these needs effectively for systems design and development.
Develop a broad working knowledge of Staples' business requirements and
aligns the requirements to Staples' strategy and vision
Collaborate with usability and creative teams to develop the Staples.com
websites.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with targeted business areas
Manage the competing needs of multiple stakeholders
Provide input to project plan, risk assessment, and manage tasks to project
schedule
Manage requirements issues and issue resolution
Assist business with identifying, designing and implementing new processes
Requirements:
3- 5 years related IT business analysis or systems analysis experience with
customer facing business applications.
Strong communication skills including verbal, listening, written
documentation, influencing, facilitation, presentation skills for technical
or business audiences regardless of level
Experience defining business, functional requirements, use cases, and user
stories for e-Commerce and mobile web/mobile applications software
projects. Working knowledge of Agile scrum processes such as backlog
grooming and sprint planning and roles such as scrum master and product
owner.
Effective use of business modeling and requirements management techniques:
Process, workflow modeling, use cases, product backlog management, user
story definition
Strong facilitation skills
Experience working with multiple development approaches for internal and
externally developed applications as well as packaged applications
including incremental, waterfall, and Agile Scrum, or Kanban.
Requires disciplined experience in defining business and functional
requirements resulting in quality results with little direction
Strong team player with attention to positive team dynamics
Ability to create and execute effective requirements work plans
Must exhibit strong self-initiative
Must be adaptable (including being quick to learn) and be able to act with
a strong sense of urgency
Working knowledge of scrum management tools, e.g. Version One, Rally, Jira,
is preferred
Education:
Bachelor s Degree or equivalent experience
Certification or at least training course work towards Business Analyst
certification (CBAP) is preferred

Job Summary
The Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) serves as a liaison between the
business units and information technology teams to drive enhancements
through project lifecycle and manage data quality. The BSA has end-to-end
project responsibilities, with heavy focus on project documentation,
testing strategy, and test execution. This person will also identify,
assess, and ensure proper resolution of marketing data quality issues.
Ongoing communications with solution stakeholders will establish
suitability of data for management reporting, marketing campaigns, and
analytics. The BSA will also be part of the Data Council, working within a
cross-functional team of business and information technology partners to
plan and support processes for better data management across the
organization. The successful candidate is a strong data/systems problem
solver with a balance of database competency, communication skills, and
business acumen. The role requires someone who can work independently with
business and technology partners to drive results, leveraging superior SQL
and Excel skills.

Manages enhancement requests through system development lifecycle (SDLC).
Writes functional requirements, provides input on solution designs, and is

issues are identified.
Research issues to identify specific examples and define scope.
Business impact analysis and ongoing assessment of outstanding issues.
Ensure timely and accurate execution of ongoing production processes by the
information systems support team, including data enrichment with
Firmographics, phone & address updates, and privacy preferences.
Act as the administrator of end user accounts for Teradata-based marketing
database.
Perform ad hoc analytics and serve as a marketing database SME, providing
direct support to stakeholders.
Innovation and Change (i.e. improvements to procedures, services, or
products, as well as development of new ideas, methods, techniques,
services and products)
Establish and evolve quality standards in partnership with business and
technology partners.
Communication/Interactions: Internal & External Customers / Suppliers as
well as Third Parties (i.e. include level or job title of customer
relationship and the nature of the customer relationship management and
service delivery as well as the type of interaction; adapt/exchange of
information, influence, or negotiate)
Participate in Data Council, acting as a marketing steward for ongoing data
improvement initiatives.
Develop, maintain, and execute reports of KPIs indicating quality level
within marketing data mart. Report results to stakeholders, and escalate
issues as necessary.
People Leadership (i.e. staff management; accountability for hiring,
coaching, training, conducting performance review, determining pay actions)
Partner with information technology partners to determine root causes of
issues, approaches to resolution, and validation/testing of fixes.
Develop and deliver user group training on the Marketing Data Mart and
related tools/solutions.

responsible for defining, modifying or executing and is focus on long term
(typically 3-5 years) or short- to mid-term (12-18 months))

understanding of database concepts. Ability to write advanced SQL for ad
hoc analytic and reporting purposes. Experience working with very large
(Terabyte scale) databases preferred.
Ability to understand complex business issues and possess analytic skills
to formulate solutions in conjunction with business and information
technology partners. Must be able to translate and apply business needs to
technical solutions. Experience working with marketing organizations
preferred.
Experience composing and executing user acceptance testing.
Advanced skills within analytic applications (e.g. Excel) for synthesizing,
aggregating, comparing, validating, and reporting on data. Experience with
macro development preferred.
Ability to dig deep into data issues to determine scope and impact.
SDLC experience on database and/or software projects.
Strong oral and written business communications skills. Demonstrated
success in conveying complex concepts to business partners in a concise and
readily understood manner.
Experience in QA role is a plus.
