*Interview mode: Phone then F2F* *Location: Chesire, CT * *ONLY GC, USC* *FACE 2 FACE* Overview: A fast paced demanding position supporting the development needs of individuals or departments along with the responsibility of supporting production processes. Must be a self-starter, have strong communication skills, be able to juggle multiple tasks and be a strong team player. Position will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance and performance of all MS SQL Server databases (production & test). Primary responsibilities include: database administration, performance and job monitoring and job remediation. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical and T-SQL coding skills. Length of Assignment: 6 months, good possibility of extension or perm conversion Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to production systems. • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations • Maintain and enhance SSRS environment. • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end. • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement. • Perform critical support, scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. • Idea candidate will also: • Experience on high availability SQL Server solutions, including Replication Models (Snapshot/Transactional) and SQL Server clustering (Active-Active, Active-Passive). • Expert in using Bulk Copy Program (BCP), Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages and SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) with MS SQL Server. • Experience in creating SSIS packages. Experience in DTS Migration and Metadata Management: Migrating DTS Packages to SSIS, Package Migration Wizard, and Storage Management. • Experience in using SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) for data extraction, transformation and loading across different databases like Oracle, MS Access and flat files using tools like Import and Export Wizard, Package Installation and SSIS Package Designer. Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 3+ years with MS SQL Server database administration required. • 3+ years with Microsoft SQL Server side development including (SSIS, SSRS, SSMS, SSAS) • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems. • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools. • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models. • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server. • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts. • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics. • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
