Position: Storage Foundation HA Consultant
Location: Brown Deere, WI (North Milwaukee area)
Duration: 12+ months (expendable) contracting position
Job Duties/Description:
The Primary responsibilities of the Consultant will be to assist Client in
daily operation of their *Symantec Storage Foundation* ("SF") solutions. The
Consultant will assume a key role in providing ongoing expertise for
Client's tactical and strategic SF related initiatives. This effort will
include the following tasks:
* Assist Client with design, implementation, daily monitoring and
maintenance of the SF solution implemented within the Client infrastructure.
* Assist in issue troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of SF solutions
currently installed within the Client infrastructure.
* Assist Client in process to ensure environment and software compatibility
of SF solutions to be installed, implemented, or otherwise used.
* Assist Client in the testing and rollout of scheduled SF product updates
and patches.
* Handle SF support issues, coordinate communications between Client's
operations staff and Symantec customer support staff to resolve complex
issues, and to assist in escalating issues.
* Through discussions and demonstration, provide periodic informal on-site
knowledge transfer, as needed to designated Client employees covering the
management, normal operation, and maintenance of the SF infrastructure.
* The Symantec consulting team will provide formal weekly status reports to
Client outlining:
o Program Status/Progress for SF management activities and tasks
o Action Items & Next Steps relative to the SF program
* Assist client with updating general documentation related to interviews,
logistics, licensing and applicable project artifacts
Assist Client with on-going architecture updates for diagrams, configuration
guide(s), and supporting documentation for the SF program when necessary.
The Symantec consulting team will conduct quarterly program status
presentations per year to checkpoint the program's status and strategic
direction relative to Client's business objectives.
Skill Set Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
* Symantec Product Certification: Storage Foundation HA
* VVR (high level expertise - architecture/design and implementation
experience required)
* Flashsnap (high level expertise - architecture/design and implementation
experience required)
* Operating Systems: Primarily Solaris with some HPUX
* Working knowledge of SFHA on Windows is a plus but not required
* NBU experience is a plus but not required
