Providing technical expertise within a Tier 2 team responsible for the
implementation, service delivery and support of products, systems & networks
in Investment and Advisory Division of ThomsonReuters with focus on systems
virtualization.
To ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered as part of the
implementation process whilst ensuring that existing service levels are
maintained or improved. To contribute to and ensure full compliance to
operational standards, procedures and best practices. It involves close
liaison with various operational, project, development and product teams as
well working within the Service Organisation to ensure ongoing service and
support can be maintained to agreed service levels.
- Participate in Virtualization Project implementation. Work on
individual assignments as well as team deliverables as required by project.
Create, review and contribute to PIA, design documents.
- Create and maintain RunBooks and Work Instructions to reflect changes
related to virtualization.
- Provide a second level support; lead service incident and problem
resolution efforts to support entrusted applications/products.
- Collaborate with development and other teams on systems design
enhancements and systems serviceability.
- Be aware and ensure compliance with Company design, testing and
documentation standards and practices which are applicable to the
project/product and are current within the department.
*JOB** SPECIFICATIONS- Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience*
*Hours: 9am to 6pm with possible weekend hours *
- Minimum Years of 5 years of progressive experience in Information
Technology implementation or support (preferred candidates would have their
past experience in the administration and support of multi-tiered medium,
over 500 servers, or larger production environments around company services
in financial or e-commerce industry.
- A proven record of technical leadership, challenging projects
delivery, strong analytical skills and advanced problem solving skills
required to meet challenges presented by this position.
- A bachelors degree or higher in a technical discipline (Computer
Science, Electrical Engineering etc.) preferred or equivalent professional
experience. Former development experience is a plus.
- Primary technical skills
- Expert level knowledge (most likely 3-4 years but most importantly,
must be very proficient) of VMWare with proven track record in design and
implementation of mid-large scale virtual environments, monitoring,
management and applications migration technology.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Internet Technologies,
(IIS, ,NET platform, Web services, SQL backend, etc.,) – *platform
that system is running on, so candidates MUST be strong. *
- Practical knowledge of storage technologies (SAN,NAS)
- Practical knowledge of communications protocols and networking
technologies.
- Basic knowledge of scripting technologies (VB, Perl, etc.,)
- Secondary technical skills
- Load Balancing. (build redundant system – software/hardware from
vendors, configure systems)
- Knowledge of Security and associated technologies. (secure protocol)
- Knowledge of Management systems.
- Knowledge of hardware platforms.
