While submitting resumes The ideal DBA will provide our client with physical data base support for specified environment(s) ensuring database integrity and availability through design, development, implementation and operation of database security, backup, and recovery. 'Architect database solution for new development with consideration to impacts in application, network, hardware, and operating system. Perform physical data base design based on analysis of business requirements. Identify, analyze, and correct database and database application performance problems. Balance database across processors and nodes. Monitor, predict, and manage file allocations and usage across disk volumes. Document database environment and support processes. Plan and practice disaster recovery procedure. Recognize the need and assume ownership for improvement in the technical infrastructure. Plan short and long term deliverables for infrastructure projects. Produce system cost benefit analysis solutions. Lead evaluation and improvement of system performance and integrity. Plan and manage database data security, privacy, and integrity. Mentor development of other database administrators. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for tools and methodologies to improve database administration capabilities and efficiencies. Provide rotational 24X7 on-call support. ' DBA will be upgrading databases from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. * Must be familiar with SQL Server 2000 and 2005 and preferably SQL Server 2008. * Requires experience in handling multiple upgrades, migrations and consolidation types projects at one time. * Minimum 5 years SQL Server database administration experience. Windows administration knowledge. * Must have a combination of technical and project lead skills. * Experience handling large databases (200 GB to terabyte range). * Must be a self-starter with strong leadership traits * Must be detail oriented and be willing to keep in-depth documentation. * Must be able to communicate clearly via email, phone and in person. (Many contacts are remote.) * Be able to meet aggressive deadlines with minimal supervision. * The DBA must possess good communication skills, as he/she will be working with application and business teams responisble for the systems supported by the databases. * The DBA is expected to be proficient in both SQL Server 2000 and 2005. Experience: EXPERIENCE: * 'Minimum of 6+ years DBA experience. * Proven ability to support production, maintenance, and development for environment consisting of several hundred users. * Knowledge of and experience with OEM products to automate and facilitate database management. * Ability to analyze application operating characteristics and balance database usage. * Solid understanding of database structures. * Excellent written and oral communication skills. * Track record as a proven self-starter, offering and delivering proactive solutions to large, complex system problems. * Excellent leadership and mentoring skills. * 8+ years of DBA experience with an additional 4-6 years of IT experience required comprising 15+ years of total experience.'
