*Description:* The IT Release Management team provides central release
management services to all application development teams. Services include
production release & support execution; SCM and other release tools support;
and process leadership & consultation. These services are focused on
promoting an efficient control-driven process for the planning and release
of changes to the live and backup IT environments.

The Senior Release Engineer participates in providing all of these team
services, bringing together solid technical skills, good release & support
process experience, strong understanding of client-server development &
infrastructure, and good customer & self-management skills.



*Job Responsibilities:*

   - Release changes into production through controlled promotion processes
   or documented support procedures.
   - Provide central release tool support, including support for SubVersion
   and CollabNet Project Tracker.
   - Administrate release processes, including key controls.
   - Take a leading role in release management projects.
   - Contribute to the RM best practice kit & community of practice,
   supporting policy and driving business value.
   - Consult with teams on implementing RM, addressing failures, meeting
   policy, and aligning as sensible with best practices.
   - As member of IT RM team, actively contribute to team process, strategy,
   roadmap, & communications.



*Requirements:*

   - *Strong grasp of IT infrastructure* *&*
*application-development*technology and architectures. Examples
include languages (Java, VB.Net), web
   & app servers (WebLogic, JBoss, Apache, IIS), middleware & messaging
   (Informatica, MQ series, Sonic), operating systems (Linux, Solaris,
   Windows), etc.\
   - *Experience with Release Management tools*. Examples include SCM
*(Subversion/Ivy),
   issue trackers (CollabNet), build (ANT), scripting (shell,
Perl),*deployment & DSL (Marimba), continuous integration (Hudson),
CMDB's (HP
   uCMDB), etc.
   - *7+ years in release management* or related activities (*3+ years in a
   large business setting*)
   - *ITIL foundations* and practitioners certificates
   - *SQL scripting* and *release experience*, such as Sybase, Oracle,
   MSSQL, and data warehouses
   - Strong experience with *RM concepts* (controlled promotion, source code
   management, build/package/deploy, rollout planning; also traceability,
   release planning)
   - Process design, improvement, and rollout experience, *ITIL experience
   is a plus*
   - Good *project management skills*
   - Word, Excel, Outlook, MS Project, Visio (Desired)
   - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
   - Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
   - Ability to translate "tech speak" to lay terms as necessary for the
   audience
