This is not just a functional role, but technical in nature as well. This role will play a key part in defining how content will be created, consumed, converted, packaged, and distributed so that the consuming applications can render it for our customers. This role will support the continued development of the Content Management ecosystem and integration of applications, content data models and XML-driven processes. Assist in defining and managing a variety of data and system development projects within the Content Management Program. Keep abreast of publishing trends, CMS enhancements and new product development methodologies. The selected candidate will work with staff across the Scholastic business units; editorial, creative, photo services, product developers and external vendors and consultants across all types of product offerings. Specific responsibilities Serve as content management system SME for end to end content workflows using Open Text Business Process Management and Media Manager are MUST HAVE. Also working with OpenText Artesia. OpenText acquired Artesia. Artesia has since been re-branded, becoming OpenText Digital Asset Management (DAM) which continues to provide organizations with powerful tools for managing all of their digital media and underlying metadata.) OpenText Process Suite Platform (Process Platform) delivers process modeling tools via a powerful, next generation software platform that enables organizations to embrace change while maintaining control of their business. Process Platform modeling tools are designed to support a continuous process improvement cycle that follows the natural flow of iterative and agile transformation. This provides the flexibility to respond to changes in a smart, effective way. The process cycle includes: Discovery of processes based on mining techniques or simplified manual goal and activity modeling Modeling processes according the business objectives and strategy Executing processes in exact accordance with designs Monitoring processes and business activities closely in real-time Improving processes and analyzing feedback on a continuous basis Define CMS changes (Systems, Processes, Workflows) to support new product content needs and assist in delivery of those changes Evaluate business/system/product requirements and process/workflows Oversee and assist in XML schema development, modification, maintenance and documentation. Develop strategies for content conversion, migration, and formatting, including tools/processes, quality assurance, and maintenance policies. Monitor current trends and emerging technologies within the publishing industry and content management community. Assist in development of proposals, functional specifications, contracts and documentation Assist in coordinating ongoing data conversions Assist in ingestion of new content and metadata Essential Job Responsibilities/Primary Activities: (Please summarize the 4-8 main responsibilities/accountabilities of the position. Essential: Business and workflow analysis and product development expertise Thorough knowledge of content management systems, strategies, and technologies Thorough knowledge of publishing systems, applications and processes used for both web and print product development. Thorough knowledge of XML in a publishing production environment Thorough knowledge of database design concepts, developing SQL queries Thorough knowledge of book publishing prepress processes and methodologies, from data concept to press. Detail oriented, proactive troubleshooter with demonstrated success in a fast-paced technical publishing environment. Solid interpersonal, supervisory and team-building skills Skill Set Extensive experience with InDesign/InCopy or other publishing systems. Creative design knowledge helpful. Expertise with CMS/DAM/KMS technologies and systems Expertise with XML/XHTML authoring tools and Schema development Experience with XSLT and database/schema translations. Expertise with data conversion technologies, programming and management (e.g., OmniMark, Xychange) Experience with user support and training across all major publishing functions: Editorial, Design, Photo, Production and Web application development Full familiarity with Office 2000 applications (Word, Excel) is required. Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and development of SQL queries is desired. Specific Experience: Degree in Computer Science or comparable publishing system management experience 5+ years' supervisory experience in a publishing production environment managing technical development staff and publishing systems/processes. Minimum of 5-8+ years' experience developing XML schemas, defining metadata and database structures to maximize content re-use and produce multiple products from a single source.
