Application Development in Asset Management
Role: *Senior Developer*
*Must have experience with Java/WebSphere/SQL as well as exposure to .NET.*
The client is seeking a senior developer to support their *Trading,
Portfolio Mgmt *and Compliance systems. The support needs to be provided to
a user base that is located primarily in New York City, but interaction with
some users and technology team members is required within the Jersey City,
NJ area.
This role involves teamwork with the Equity front Office management,
Traders, Portfolio Managers and Investment Advisors, Middle Office
Operations and Application Development communities at all levels within the
firm. The candidate will be expected to provide active support of the
systems, perform development and participate in project related
implementation work. Additionally, the person must have the ability to work
on projects and other assignments with minimal direct supervision.
*Responsibilities include:*
*Senior Developer:*
Perform software development functions in support of the various
applications within client.
Programming languages can include *Java, C++, .Net/C#, SQL, ETL,
Informatica, Reporting Technologies like Business Objects and Cognos, Web
services such as Websphere, Tomcat, *etc
Perform Business and/or systems analysis functions working with the Business
and/or other Technology teams. Analyze functional and system requirements
and workflows, and provide associated documentation in support of the
development and testing phases.
Possess technical abilities and able to apply *troubleshooting principles,
system analysis and testing*.
Possess excellent communication skills. Comfortable working with Business
users such as traders and portfolio managers in a client facing type
capacity.
Possess ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
*Good understanding of application development, release management and
change management methodologies and best practices.*
*Experience working with external vendors*.
*Qualifications:*
* *
*Strong programming expertise in .NET, Java, XML Parsing, log4j, log4net*
*Strong expertise in build scripts using Ant & Maven*
*Strong database expertise in SQL Server, Oracle & Sybase*
*University or college degree in Computer Science or related disciplines*
*Exposure to Financial products, Equities and Derivatives preferred*
*Exposure to software development*
*Strong written and verbal communication skills*
*Knowledge of security trade life cycle and settlement flows a plus*
Responsible for the design, development, coding, testing, debugging and
documentation of applications to satisfy the requirements of one or more
user areas. May include hands-on new development as well as support,
maintenance or enhancement of existing applications. Works closely with
client management to identify and specify complex business requirements and
processes. Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and makes
recommendations.
