Job title: Senior Database test Engineer Duration: 6+Months Location: Owings Mills, MD Candidate will serve as Database Tester who is a specialized in backend database testing to support the HIPAA 5010 conversion initiative in Maryland. The ideal candidate should have some experience with Healthcare Insurance industry and be a solid self- starter. Candidate must also be a quick learner who is able to function independently. Must also have the ability to quickly prioritize tasks and synthesize information from various sources. The Ideal Candidate will possess the following skills/experiences: * Ability to understand the functional specification and scope of projects * Ability to create test artifacts such and back-end/database test plans and test cases. * The candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with an ability to interact with various team members including associates from business and technical groups in a collaborative environment. * Knowledge of SDLC and familiarity with different development methodologies such as incremental, agile, waterfall etc. * The candidate must have a keen sense of attention to details and a flair for backend testing. * Ability to create and run SQL queries after gaining a thorough understanding of business and functional requirements and test scenarios. * Ability to analyze data model, data and issues related to healthcare. * Ability to analyze table loads in databases and compare to source data from various sources such as excel, csv or other reference tables to check for data validity and integrity. * Capable of creating and executing DDL and DML statements on databases to execute test cases and find defects. * Should have logical thinking and should also have knowledge of programming functions and a good understanding of Database structures, stored procedures and Triggers. * Strong knowledge of Oracle database and the ability to write complex sql queries for retrieval of required data using TOAD or SQL Plus. Hands on UNIX knowledge to write and execute queries would be preferred. Ability to write scripts to run queries in an automated fashion would be a plus. * Work closely with leads and analysts from other Project groups when necessary to manage testing effort, log production problems, request and maintain test data. * Analyzes the results of all phases of testing in order to provide recommendations to various project management teams. * Report and track defects in Quality Center.
