Title : Oracle RAC DBA Location : NYC NY Duration : 3-6 month contract. Rate : $45/hr Corp to Corp. The Senior Oracle (RAC) DBA, will drive the initial setup of engineering, support, business as usual and product innovation in our client’s New York office, on behalf of a global team and consistent with our client’s program in its Sydney office. The database environment is predominantly Oracle 11gR2 RAC / Linux, and the resource will be required to implement, upgrade and maintain databases, provide backup and enterprise storage solutions, as well as planning process and application improvements. This role requires a deep understanding of all processes, necessitating the ability to provide the highest level of technical support, analyse, diagnose and resolve escalated problems, in line with existing practices. The role will be closely tied to the new Systematic Trading business within our client, and as such a daily support requirement, especially during stock market opening hours, will be required. Core responsibilities of the role include: Maintaining good relationships with the Account Teams, business users and the wider global IT team Providing first-class relational database management systems support (Oracle RAC) Working with multi-level support teams in New York and other regional offices to Implement and support infrastructure environments DR planning and testing System builds and development Evaluation of new technologies Technical project management, in line with all methodologies and processes Ensuring that database systems are built to Standards and levels of support Ensuring optimum performance and availability of Database systems Experience requirements: EXPERT level Oracle (RAC) Database Administrator; harnessing existing subject matter expertise to deliver outstanding service within a demanding 24 x 7 global organisation. The ability to thrive off autonomy and be adept at seizing opportunities. Customer-focused and have excellent communication skills. strong Oracle RAC database skills (a minimum of 7 years continuous and recent experience in Oracle RAC 10g and 11gR2) advanced experience in using RMAN and DataGuard skills in Oracle Enterprise Manager trouble-shooting and resolution of production problems and issues as they arise demonstrable experience with change management processes and procedures; ITIL practices strong RedHat Linux and Solaris skills scripting skills in Perl and/or Shell Oracle database upgrades and application of quarterly Oracle CPU patches Remedy trouble-ticketing system; Veritas Clustering and replication products BMC Patrol Monitoring; DR planning and testing Exposure to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 a plus.
