Job Title : Sr. Network Engineer Location : New York City , NY Duration : 8 months (high possibility of extensions) Rate:$45/-c 2c all incl Network Engineer, with Cisco , MPLS exp Project Summary and Position Overview The Wan Network Engineer will be part of the Net Comms Wan/PDN Implementation & Support team that is responsible for planning, engineering, implementing and supporting an advanced carrier class WAN environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: driving & owning specific areas within projects, diagnosing issues and communicating resolutions, day to day client implementations. Essential Day-to-Day Responsibilities: The day to day responsibilities include implementing last mile comms for client delivery, support of the Sigma core network, assisting in evaluating & testing new technologies, & continuous improvement of specific areas that are within the teams remit. The position also requires fielding calls from the L2 support teams and assist in resolving incidents that are escalated to the team. Additional Information (e.g. shift resource, % work that is development vs. maintenance, etc.): The position after appropriate team training is provided will be split between 2nd shift 1 to 9pm eastern and weekend shift will be a requirement. Required Skills (Must have), Necessary industry experience and associated number of years of experience: Knowledge and hands-on experience with BGP, OSPF, RIP, and EIGRP. Hands-on experience with Cisco 7600,6500,7200, CRS, and various other hardware platforms. Knowledge of carrier technologies such as Sonet, Ethernet services (MEF), DWDM, as well as the ability to work with carriers to troubleshoot circuit issues. An understanding of MPLS technologies such as L# vpn, L2 vpn, and any of the following; VPLS, MPLS QoS, MPLS TE & mVPN. An understanding of multicast, i.e. PIM sparse mode, PIM dense mode, PIM SSM. Understanding of connector types & Fibre types. Minimum of 3 years experience ideally working in a carrier network or a large enterprise network with experience in design & engineering. Must be a good team player with a proven track record of successful project delivery. Must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to clearly articulate issues.
