JobTitle:.MySQL DBA Location:Dallas,TX , Richmond,VA Duration: 6+ months Responsibilities - You thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, you can change direction quickly, and you're eager to learn new technologies as the need arises. - Setup, configure and write scripts/programs for maintenance of the database environment; this includes server-wide maintenance, database maintenance, table/object maintenance
and job maintenance to monitor and preserve database server's health, and to ensure server's high availability and problem alertness. - Analyze and monitor the performance statistics of production databases based on data gathered from maintenance processes running against production server, including periodicalreview on thresholds against the loads on the server as the basis for capacity planning. - Analyze, identify and troubleshoot issues with databases by investigating the nature of these issues, whether encountered in production or reported by customers/users. Determinethe problems by categorizing them by known database errors and bugs, and newly encountered database problems related to production processes. - Fix complex problems, such as database corruption. Work closely with management, peers, database users, application developers and network administrators/engineers to providedirection in identifying and resolving database-related issues. - In an advisory capacity, conduct periodic reviews of logical data models during the development process in order to keep the team focused on available technologies and the futuredirection of the database environment, as well as ensuring that data standards are being followed. Participate in the analysis and staging process of application developments, application deployments/installation through a release process, and other various support functions in the system development life cycle. - Create analytical reports for technical and business users. - Work with development teams to optimize data access and networking performance. Requirements " BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline " Minimum of 5 years administering MySQL Server in a mission critical environment " Expert at troubleshooting MySQL related issues (lock contention, high load, slow queries, performance, etc.) and identifying root cause " Familiar with Nagios, Cacti and/or other tools " Familiar or ability to script using Bash/Perl/Python to automate database activities -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "OracleD2K" group.
