*Must-haves *Minimum 6 years experience as a SQL BDA Required experience migrating SQL server 2000 to 2008 (planning and executing the migration) Extensive knowledge of industry best practices in data movement design and migration methods and techniques Professional experience working in a complex, multi-server environment *Plusses * Project manager or lead experience Experience working in a 500-1000 employee organization *Role* This organization is looking for a Database Architect or Senior Level DBA with extensive data planning, design and migration/conversion experience of sql databases from a SQL 2000 environment to a SQL 2008 environment. The candidate should have proven experience in integrated data movement, design, implementation and support of a complex system migration project. The perfect candidate will have extensive knowledge of industry best practices in data movement design and migration methods and techniques; the ability to develop integrated data migration strategies and to develop or direct others to develop data movement scripts and configuration settings. They will also need to have in depth knowledge of data movement techniques, including one time conversions as well as ongoing synchronization of data. *Other responsibilities will include:* Perform guidance on the configuration and setup of the new Microsoft Sql Server 2008 R2 environment. Gather requ! irements for the upgrade; analyze our data movement patterns, simplifying the setup and ongoing replication of our data to the various servers. Complete this migration with a minimum of down time for the business. While also minimizing the impact to applications, by engineering a solution that will support a minimum of code changes to existing custom applications using the data. Participate in the completion of the server migration to the new platform with the assistance of database administration staff. Perform root-cause analysis on issues and document results for reference in future migrations. Troubleshoot configuration and performance issues in a certification environment to mitigate the risk of the issue occurring in the production environment. The individual will need to build out the timeline, document risks, track the activities and report status.
