Key duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not
limited to:



Strong operational experience with Oracle RAC/ASM and Oracle DataGuard
architecture on Oracle 11g

Perform various project related database requests for large, enterprise
level customers. Tasks often include DDL generation, cloning, schema and/or
table level data refreshes, performance tuning.

Collaborate with development teams or development DBA's to review new
databases changes or designs.

Pro-actively propose and develop strategic database improvements in
technical areas of database implementation, automated monitoring, support
and enhancement

Understand how to leverage OS Level scripts to automate routine maintenance
and similar tasks and design, develop, and implement as required (e.g. UNIX
shell or related).

Ensure the quality and consistency of data and database systems by
following a defined set of procedures (change control, security procedures,
user passwords, backups, etc).

Contribute to the continued development and documentation of operational
and application related database standards and procedures

Maintain sound backup and error recovery procedures by participating in
periodic backup audits, ensuring all databases are being backed-up

Pro-actively assess and identify database server resource requirements and
communicate needs to Management.

Review performance statistics and recommend changes for tuning database,
server, and storage configurations, as well as best application of SQL,
PL/SQL, and related.

Assume ownership of database related problems; pursue problem resolution
and root cause analysis.

Coordinate interaction with vendors/Oracle support in critical database
problem situations.

Work with cross-functional project teams to resolve technical performance
issues/bottlenecks (e.g., network, storage, application).

Work with development teams to coordinate and promote new versions of
Oracle RDBMS, new installations, upgrades and patches.

Participate with DBA team on a weekly on-call 24x7 pager rotation schedule.
DBA on call work may also be performing scheduled off-hour maintenance
operations as well as dealing with after- hours troubleshooting

This is a "hands-on keyboard" Senior Oracle Database Administration
position but the right resource will be given leadership opportunities and
help define tasks and oversee the work of other DBAs. Strong competencies
in Oracle database troubleshooting, configuration, support and setup,
backup/recovery, and related tasks with multiple instances of Oracle
databases. Resource needs a solid understanding of other inter-related
database and networking technologies commonly found in larger enterprise
environments. "Can do" attitude is critical as well as ability to be
flexible, level-headed when under pressure, strong team work sensibilities,
and a general all around hard worker.

Required Skills Include but are not limited to the following:



Bachelor's Degree - Computer Science, technical or engineering degree
preferred

10+ years in a development or support organization supporting large
applications with Oracle on Unix platforms preferred

Core competency with Oracle 11g RDBMS.

Experience in a 24x7 high availability environment required.

Experience with the design and implementation with Oracle Goldengate or
similar

Very strong with DataGuard design and implementation

Experience with the Oracle Exadata Platform including the specialized
technologies used.

Good understanding of data modeling required and basic experience doing
helpful.

Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)

Strong Experience with Disaster Recovery implementation and testing using
DataGuard and GoldenGate preferred.

Knowledge and understanding of how to leverage and use Oracle Enterprise
Manager.

Core competency performing backup and recovery utilizing Oracle's RMAN
utility

Strong database performance tuning and trouble shooting skills

Strong LINUX and/or UNIX experience (scripting experience/knowledge a big
plus)

Strong quantitative, analytical, communication and verbal skills with a
strong customer service focus

Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently toward assigned
goals

Skilled at working well with different staff levels within and out of core
competency.

Competent and able to translate highly technical solutions/problems to
audiences at varying technical levels, to prepare and present technical
documentation,

communicates in a professional manner when interacting across staff levels
and internal/external customers, understands the importance of
communicating risk assessment, and able to effectively guide and mentor
junior DBA resources as required to effectively complete daily tasks.

Ability to contribute, influence and oversee a variety of projects
concurrently.

Proactively generate relevant ideas for new and improved use of technology.

Understands the impact of new projects and technical impacts to supported
systems

Collaborates with peers, architects and managers to determine project
strategy and how best to implement/support it

Proficient in Network Management, Tools and Protocols (Configuration, IP
Network

Address Management, Performance Management).

Knowledge of data center infrastructure (including blade center design,
data warehouse design, Ebusiness/web hosting design, etc.)

Understands Virtualization, Storage and Content Deliver Networks (Cloud,
CDM, Grid, SAN).
