Description:

*POSITION SUMMARY*:

The Security Engineer is responsible for assisting in strategy and
implementation of technology solutions in support of company’s information
security programs. Will assist and participate in monitoring, alert
response and remediation of current security activities. This position will
have responsibility for performing security related tasks and/or creation
of policies/practices related to security projects and company posture.
Responsible for protection of company’s physical and non-physical
Information technology assets. The Security Engineer is a key member of the
Operational Security team covering physical security, IT security
architecture, infrastructure platforms, application security, monitoring,
tool administration/management and related business processes and workflows.

*Primary Duties & Responsibilities: *

• Direct and lead the vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection, and
security event monitoring programs. Perform lead role in investigating and
responding to security related events.

• Direct and lead the maintenance and administration of software tools that
support the Information Security Program. Examples of security tools
include software to support endpoint security/encryption, vulnerability
scanners, intrusion detection systems, data leakage and web
proxy/filtering.

• Monitor and manage the team’s quality of service in responding to
incidents and requests in IT Security’s workflow queue and performing
Information Security Processes, including the Quarterly Vulnerability
Assessment (QVA) and the Certificate Management Process.

• Perform information security program management tasks as assigned,
including defining and documenting corporate security policy and
procedures, security metrics, and managing the security awareness program.
Provide input to the Information Security Roadmap.

• Lead or participate in security driven projects as defined by the
Information Security Roadmap. Represent the Operational Security team on
non-security driven projects.

• Maintains security team documentation, including runbooks, procedures,
processes and hardware and software inventory detail.

• Provides technical guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
Takes a proactive approach to mentoring other staff members

• Application Administration and Consultant level support to the Physical
Security program Knowledge: • Expert knowledge of security concepts,
including: network/perimeter security; security event monitoring;
vulnerability assessment; intrusion detection and response; encryption
technologies; and Internet content monitoring/filtering.

• Expert knowledge of most of these relevant technologies - IBM/ISS Scanner
and IDS, Nessus Scanner, Bluecoat Internet proxies, Symantect SEE (formerly
Guardian Edge - Hard Disk Encryption, Device Control and Removable Storage
Encryption), Trustware (formerly Vericept) compliance and data loss
prevention

• Strong knowledge of other relevant technologies - Microsoft Windows
Server, Cisco IOS, Checkpoint, Unix, Linux, Snort, Nmap and HP-Openview.

• Knowledgeable of network and security protocols including TCP/IP, SMTP,
FTP, SSH, TSL, SSL, HTTP, IPSec and other VPN protocols

• Strong written and verbal communications skills. Must be able to lead and
influence diverse groups, and explain technical terms to customers without
similar backgrounds.

• Excellent time management skills to effectively meet multiple objectives

• Strong analytical, process and troubleshooting skills.

• The desire, commitment and ability to be a team player

• Professional attitude and presentation. Skills & Abilities:

• A+, Network+, Security +, CISSP or other security or IT certifications.

• MCSE a plus

• Action oriented, self-motivated and capable of performing several tasks
simultaneously

• BS degree in relevant field and/or nine or more years of work experience
in the IT Security field.

Additional Sr Security Engineer is necessary due to continued internal and
external business drivers around extended and improved security programs
and technologies to be applied and implemented into Radian's environment.
This resource will lead in defining and implementing strategies, practices
and security improvements as well as take a lead in alignment with Security
Architecture and other IT relevant teams.
