Infrastructure architect with Cloud EXP Working knowledge of resource estimation, internal administration and operational processes Expertise in one solution portfolio area (networking, passenger, self-service, etc.) Understanding of Enterprise Architecture/IT Strategy Knowledgeable about architecture direction, methodologies, policies and practices Knowledgeable on how components are connected and interact Strong knowledge of standard engineering principles, theories, concepts and techniques Strong understanding of system integration and hardware issues Strong understanding of modeling methodologies such as UML Strong understanding of requirements methodologies such as Use Cases Reasonable awareness and understanding of industry drivers Demonstrates a practical awareness of other architectures Demonstrates analytical flexibility and versatility Demonstrates core engineering competencies Understanding of how own work fits into the bigger picture Scope/Financial Responsibility This position directly influences the annual spend for capital and related operating expenses for the technologies in scope. This position will report to the VP of Technology Services and provide guidance to a virtual team of engineers operating in this technical area. Abilities/Key Competencies/Skills Deep & broad knowledge and experience in the capabilities and use of the technologies in scope. At least 7 -12 years experience in selecting, design engineering, solution engineering, project engineering, integrating and implementing infrastructure services architecture and related technologies in a large scale environment. Demonstrated effective decision making that had significant impact on technology direction and related business results. At least five years experience in managing major vendor relationships in the infrastructure technology area. At least five years experience in providing consulting to senior management on the use and selection of infrastructure technologies. Demonstrated skills in developing a technology plan including technical strategy and direction as well as the related business case for the use of infrastructure technologies. Strong background and understanding of the technical direction and prevailing standards for infrastructure technologies. A proven history of being able to influence business and IT peers and management in the decision making process. Ability to explain complex technical detail and tradeoffs to non-technical associates and executives. Ability to mentor and develop other engineers & architects. Excellent communication skills including the ability to present complex presentations to both technical and business leadership audiences. Ability to facilitate and conduct crucial conversations when stakes are high, emotions are strong and opinions vary that result in win/win solutions and while doing so fostering communication by encouraging open, honest two-way communication. Deep & broad knowledge of full range of distributed messaging, email, active directory, middleware, application integration, web services, collaboration, knowledge & content management, systems management and related operating system & supporting hardware and software technologies, architectural principles, design standards and options. Deep Technical knowledge of infrastructure services systems management tools. Deep Technical knowledge of commonly used hardware and software products. Must possess a strong knowledge of vendor community for full range of infrastructure services architectures including but not limited to distributed messaging, email, active directory, middleware, application integration, web services, collaboration, knowledge & content management, systems management and related operating system & supporting technologies.
