Position: *VB.NET <http://VB.NET> Developer * Location: Richmond, VA Duration: 12 Months Rate: 45/hr. on C2C F2F after the phone screen We are looking for a VB.NET programmer to enhance and support an application for an enterprise imaging application. The Case Imaging System (CIS) is an existing production application that requires continuing enhancements, modifications and ongoing support. 1) Required Skills: • Operating System Experience: Unix/Linux, Windows • Development experience with object oriented VB.NET application development and analysis • Programming experience most desired: Microsoft VB.NET (Primary), MS C#, Shell Scripting (Secondary) • Database SQL in a relational database experience necessary. Informix experience desired. Additional consideration given for candidates who have experience with Imaging toolkits, DevExpress, SOAP Webservices, iTextSharp, Winforms, Subversion, MSI, ODBC and development in a court environment. Experience developing all phases of entire applications is highly desirable. 2) Soft Skills: • Excellent communication skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Ability to interact with other front line and second level support engineers 3) DUTIES: • Software Development in VB.Net environment • Some PC support/maintenance possible in VB and shell scripting. • Unit Testing necessary • Analysis skills critical • Possible creation of UNIX scripts for deployment • Training, documentation and knowledge transfer of completed application • The successful programmer will need excellent communication skills, a flexible work attitude, and previous programming skills (more than 4 year's experience successfully implementing software projects), experience with Agile programming methodology having multiple software iterations is desirable. • Nontechnical requirements: Easy going personality, ability to go with the flow and not get anxious or flustered if assignment changes unexpectedly. Self-starter who takes on responsibility. Quick learner who can grasp how things are done and move forward with the tasks with little supervision. CIS Imaging Application Developer: Job Description: Perform database design and analysis on Object Relational Database Management Systems to enhance and optimize performance in imaging applications. Perform complex programming and analysis tasks for both indexing and imaging server applications including database and GUI development. Develop client applications for scanning, searching and retrieval on client machines working closely with ORDBMS server. Work closely with court staff, application analysts and end users to define requirements; write program specifications; design, code, test and debug programming assignments; assist activities of junior and intermediate application developers. Experience with Data Modeling techniques, Software Development Kits such as DevExpress, Informix Client and Imageman, and development tools such as subversion and Visual Studio is preferable. Receive direction from Senior Imaging Application Development Lead and Records Imaging Systems Manager. CIS Imaging Application Developer will be required to interface with end users and analysts to provide solutions to complex analytical and tactical system issues. In addition, they may: assist the efforts of other developers in major system development projects; conduct discussions with Court Analysts to determine functional requirements, analyze these requirements, and determine proposed solutions to manual and/or computer-based information processing requirements; and review system performance. The developers will access UAT and Dev environments interfacing with both Unix based and z/OS based operating system.
