*Job Title: Web Developer* *Location: Reston, VA (Need Locals)* *Duration : 3+ Months* *Responsibilities:* Function as a member of the team to provide day-to-day operational support of VOD (Video on Demand) video delivery systems. Participate in the design review of new technical features and architecture changes to the Video on Demand content management and delivery systems. Develop and support automation tools to perform Linux system administration, installation, upgrades, patching, tuning, hardening, configuration and troubleshooting on hundreds of baremetal servers and virtual machines. Develop and support monitoring infrastructure for troubleshooting Linux Enterprise Solutions, SQL and No-SQL Databases, and vendor supplied software Develop API's, scripts and presentation layers to facilitate system administration, troubleshooting and triage, and reporting. Participate in planning, testing and execution of system and application level upgrades. Participate in On-Call rotation Occasional travel required. *Required Skills/Experience:* Minimum 4 years experience scripting in Ruby and one or more other languages among Perl, Python and Bash Minimum 4 years experience developing web applications in Ruby on Rails Solid experience developing Web 2.0 UI's, with a focus on JavaScript, jQuery and AJAX SysAdmin experience supporting MySQL, Apache 2.x, Passenger, and RedHat/CentOS server administration. Experience supporting/maintaining LAMP solutions, and porting older PHP apps over to Rails. Familiarity with APIs, web services, and interoperating with 3rd party platforms and libraries Experience working with Agile methodology Solid troubleshooting, bug tracking, unit testing, and quality assurance practices Seasoned software engineering skills including excellent documentation, use of source control, and other best practices. Able to stay ahead of the curve with new and emerging technologies. Experience with Relational Database Management Systems, including administration, schema design and T-SQL scripting. Demonstrated ability to stay organized while multi-tasking between several projects, and ability to adapt to change. Experience with remote management of servers in a distributed environment. Team player with professional work ethic and positive attitude. Able to work in an entrepreneurial environment requiring broad experience, adaptability, quick learning and excellent problem solving skills *Education:* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent in work experience and self-study.
