*Job Title: Network Engineer * *Location: Richardson, TX* *Duration : 1+ years* *Job Description (copy & paste) Summary: * The Senior Video Network Engineer is responsible for engineering IP networks for delivery of triple and quad play video services in Frontier’s Network. This position focuses on the design, evaluation, testing, and implementation of network routing and switching technologies and equipment for the delivery of IP video services to consumers. The position reports to the Director of FiOS Video Delivery. The person in this position will work with Engineering and Operations teams to evaluate, design, configure, deploy and maintain Video services in the lab and the production network. This person must have strong troubleshooting skills and will serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for operational issues. *Education/Experience: * BSEE, BSCS, BSET or 8 or more years equivalent experience in a technical/engineering field. Experience with FiOS VoD service solution architecture and implementation. *Competencies: * Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills associated with the design and implementation of video delivery on IP based networks in service provider environments. Ability to work in a lab environment, perform hands-on configuration of network equipment, define test plans, and execute tests to meet requirements. Strong Microsoft Visio, Word, PowerPoint skills. Presentation and training skills including the ability to clearly present technical material. *Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Design and document end-to-end video delivery networks and caching technologies in response to Video system and/or delivery partner requirements. Author engineering guidelines (EGLs). Develop test plans and test specific vendor equipment to meet requirements. Perform lab evaluations on new equipment. Configure routers, switches, servers, streamers, caches, and related systems in a Lab environment for purposes of establishing network-wide implementation procedures and guidelines. Plan and support the deployment of video and CDN systems across the network. Train Operations staff on the monitoring and maintenance of the network. Respond to outages, handle escalations, and assist Operations in troubleshooting. Handle Tier 3 on-call duties and provide off-hours support for maintenance activities. Eight or more years of network engineering experience performing hands-on network design, configuration, and troubleshooting of carrier or large enterprise networks, 3+ year experience with video caching, CDN, and video or web acceleration technologies preferred. Telco/Cable experience highly desired. Strong experience authoring network specifications and diagrams (MS Word/Visio or equivalent). Experience with high-end Cisco IOS/IOS-XR routers and switches (6509, 7609, ASR, Nexus) *Desired: * Experience working with multicast and next-generation Video delivery technologies (IPTV, ABR HLS, Smooth Streaming, etc.). Experience with Web technologies and protocols (HTTP, SSL, HTML, etc.). Experience with tools for stress testing of networks and related equipment.
