*1.1 Specific Objectives WAN Transport Network Design Standards *

· *Implement the following WAN block architecture standards and
best practices: *

· *MPLS configurations *

· *OSPF configurations *

· *BGP configurations *

· *Interface configurations *

* Scope of Services and Technical/Functional Requirements *

*Review WAN Transport Network Design Standards *

· *Review current configurations of all devices at the CORE

· *Current OSPF configurations *

· *Current BGP configurations *

· *Current MPLS configurations *

· *Current Interface configurations *

*Plan *

*WAN Transport Network Design Standards *

· *Conduct planning meetings and develop design implementation plan
*

· *Plan installation resources at each location *

· *Plan change windows, schedule and remote configuration support
strategy *

· *Work with Client to discuss design features, options and
industry best practices for a successful design and implementation *

*Design WAN Transport Network Design Standards*

· *Prepare configuration standards for the following areas: *

· *MPLS configurations *

· *Set a consistent router ID for LDP adjacency *

· *Configure session to maintain LDP state (targeted session) until
link is restored (finite amount of time) *

· *Minimizes packet loss *

· *Suspend routing across link until LDP state is active to
minimize packet loss *

· *Limit per VRF usage and prevent misconfiguration from using too
much router memory *

· *RD sets VPNv4 address uniqueness *

· *Provided allocation scheme to allow multi-homing to site routes *

· *Neighbor authentication between LDP peers *

· *Log neighbor state changes to buffer and syslog servers *

· *OSPF configurations *

· *Set the OSPF link bandwidth values to ensure traffic is routed
based on differences in link bandwidth *

· *Use LSA Filter to minimize OSPF RIB entries *

· *Minimize LSA generation by summarizing routes that will be
imported into OSPF *

· *Configures the default operation in OSPF to prevent interfaces
from forming adjacencies *

· *Sets OSPF to use partial SPF calculation meant to reduce
processing overhead *

· *LSA generation/reception tweaking and SPF intervals to allow for
faster convergence and increased stability *

· *Failure detection mechanism that provides protocol independent
convergence (BFD) *

· *BGP configurations *

· *Adjust the input queue on each RR interface to process control
packets from large scale growth of PE *

· * Neighbor authentication for iBGP session *

· *Expand the RR topology to manage network growth *

· *Minimize RR configuration and allow for more flexibility in
making changes *

· *Protocol to configure on edge BGP sessions for failure detection
and fast failover *

· *Interface configurations *

· *Maximize the interface MTU so that the Maximum Segment Size
(MSS) parameter for BGP sessions can be increased *

· *Improves BGP session performance *

· *Minimize LSA generation by suppressing flapping links *

· *Dampening half-life can be adjusted to suite observed link flap
intervals *

· *Improve convergence by immediate link removal *

· *Implement standards identified above into core routers/switches
as well as remote site routers/switches in the CNP Transport WAN
network **Implement
WAN Transport Network Design Standards *

· *Design and implement OSPF, MPLS, BGP, and interface standards on
the system of the PE 6500 switches closest to the Client CORE *

·
*Design and implement OSPF, MPLS, BGP, and interface standards on the
system of the PE routers closest to the Client remote LAN (up to 600
devices) Operate *

· *WAN Transport Network Design Standards *

· *Verify the implemented configurations *
