*Project Location* *Jersey City, NJ* *Duration* *6+ Months Contract* *Interview Process: - Phone + Skype* *Visa: USC, GC, EAD-GC* *Job Description* - A skilled Storage and VMware Engineer with 5-8 years of experience. - Knowledge of SANs/NAS, and SAN/NAS-related technologies, VMware 5.x/6.x, replication technologies and Data Center Migrations and related functions is a must. - The storage environment consists primarily of technologies from EMC and Netapp. - The VMAX line is used for Tier 1 storage; VNX and VNX2 arrays are used for Tier 2 storage; network-attached storage (NAS) is provided via Netapp solution. - Although the environment is very EMC and Netapp centric, we evaluate storage technologies from other vendors to complement and enhance our existing environment. - The strategic direction is to move away from EMC and migrate to Pure all flash array and Nimble Hybrid arrays in the new Data center. - The VMware environment consists of several large deployments of vCenter5.5 and ESXi 5.5 clusters - This job requires a mixture of architecture, engineering, operations and support. Qualified candidates should have excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills. - Major responsibility is migration of hosts and arrays from old data center to new—so excellent knowledge of storage and VMware replication and migration technologies is a must. *SAN Related:* *Required* - Practical skills required for the configuration and management of enterprise-class disk arrays, particularly EMC’s Symmetrix VMAX, VNX (unified), VNX2 (unified). - Knowledge of Nimble Hybrid Arrays and Pure All Flash arrays highly desirable. - Excellent knowledge of Array based, Host based and SAN based Replication technologies. - Must be able to work independently with very little supervision. - Must be adept at identifying and eliminating performance bottlenecks and making performance-related recommendations (hardware, software, and configuration). - Excellent knowledge of Autprovisioning, masking, mapping, Access Logix, ALUA and multipathing. - Excellent knowledge of disk technologies, RAID Levels, Disk pools, volume managers, Caching mechanism and advanced data services such as compression, deduplication snapshots and clones and replication. - Must be able to provide storage utilization reports and be able to forecast storage capacity requirements. - Excellent knowledge of storage migration technologies/techniques—both host and array based. - The ability to present provisioned space to a host; knowing when and how it can be done "hot" (without reboot). - Excellent knowledge of Cisco SAN/Fabric technologies. - Excellent knowledge of zoning, configuration backups, ISL/Port channels, NPV/NPIV with CISCO MDS Director/Switches and UCS line of FI’s. - Must know how to troubleshoot SAN/switches, link utilization, credit starvation, resource utilization. - Must be able to work with Server teams and recommend server HBA settings, multipath settings and work closely to troubleshoot storage issues with them. - Must have working knowledge about DR technologies and methodologies. - Knowledge of EMC Recover Point with VMWare SRM is highly desirable. - Must have Working knowledge about data protection and backup technologies. - Have hands on experience on EMC Data Domain, DD boost for Oracle, DD replication and DD archiver and integration of DataDomain with EMC Networker. - Must be able to independently work with the storage vendor and make sense out of their recommendations. *NAS Related:* *Required:* - Excellent knowledge and hands on experience on Netapp Data ONTAP 8.2.2-7 Mode is a must. Cluster mode desired but not required. - Must have excellent knowledge of Netapp’s FAS8000 and FAS2500 series of product lines. - Excellent knowledge of Oncommand System Manager, Oncommand Unified manager/DFM, Netapp management console. - Excellent knowledge of File protocols like NFS and CIFS. - Excellent knowledge of Netapp snapshot, snapmirror, snaplock, snapvault, flex cache and flash cache. - Must be able to independently provision, manage and troubleshoot Netapp volumes, qtrees, exports and shares and present them to clients. - Must have knowledge of netapp fpolicy and integration with third party applications like Varonis. - Must understand and be able to troubleshoot multiprotocol file access. Must have excellent knowledge of UNIX and Windows security styles. - Have hands on experience with Netapp disaster recovery procedure, troubleshooting and performance management skills. - Must have working knowledge of TCP/IP networks. - Must be able to independently work with the storage vendor and make sense out of their recommendations. - Must be able to provide timely storage reports and be able to forecast storage growth projections accurately. *VMWare Related:* *Required:* · Excellent knowledge of Vcenter and ESXi 6.x · Must be able to build ESXi hosts and clusters using host profiles. Ability to build host with SAN boot is must. · Excellent knowledge of VMware SRM is must. · Excellent knowledge on VMware HA, DRS, vMotion, storage vMotion. · Excellent knowledge of VMWare memory management, Data store management. · Must be able to troubleshoot performance issues and provide recommendations to management and server teams. · Knowledge of TCP/IP networks. Knowledge of ESXi multipathing. · Must be able to use vCOPS/vROPS and be able to make recommendations from the tool. · Knowledge of Cisco UCS 6248 Fabric Interconnects, 5108 Chassis and B200 M3 and M4 class blade servers is highly desirable. Knowledge of UCS manager, and building servers from templates, service profiles and troubleshooting UCS is extremely desirable. *Desired:* - Experience with CLI and scripting technology (at least one) such as bash, PowerShell, Perl or Python is highly desirable. - Experience in implementing storage solutions from vendors such as NetApp, Nimble, Pure storage and other niche storage players etc - Knowledge of RH Linux highly desirable. - Understanding of server blade HW such as HP C7000 and Cisco UCS - Should be knowledgeable about networking concepts: basic TCP/IP, Solaris network commands, and / or Linux network commands, experience with netmasks and how to interpret them and tools used to troubleshoot network-related problems. - Knowledge of cloud storage, cloud computing and cloud backup solutions desirable.
