Implements data models and database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Minimum 5 years experience with verifiable skills on *DB2 - certifications in recent releases preferred. * Exceptional problem solving skills. Strong communication skills. Scripting languages and strong knowledge of* UNIX* and Windows operating systems. Knowledge of *DB2 V8.2, V9.x.* Knowledge of *UNIX - AIX, Solaris, Linux* Knowledge of with *DB2 Clusters*, *Veritas* (VVR, Clusterware), *IBM jfs2. *Knowledge of *DB2 backups.* *Knowledge of UNIX shells - Korn shell, bash, Perl.* *Strong SQL skills.* Ability to code and recompile packages and code functions and procedures preferred. Experience in *tuning SQL code.* Expertise in backup/recovery/fail-over methods and best practices. Clear understanding of *RDBMS fundamentals*. Ability to write clear documentation of operating procedures, and ability to write specifications for applications to be developed. Exceptional communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow clear methodologies for troubleshooting and development.
