Title : Cognos Report Developer. Duration: 6 months contract. Location: Tallahassee, FL. Rate: 40/hr C2c all inclusive.* Description:POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for interfacing with internal and external users in the design and development of the enterprise reporting structure. This person will capture requirements, design, create, manage, and fulfill requests for reports and information. The Standard Report Writer uses their knowledge of reporting writing tools such as Cognos and SQL query scripts to develop reports and deliver data to users. This is a hands-on technical role, heavily involved in the technical design, development and implementation of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence production standard reports. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform data analysis and report development activities for Enterprise Data Warehouse Reporting Team. Analyze source system data to understand the data structure, definitions and anomalies. Interact with customer as needed to better define and understand reporting requirements. Interact with other technical team members to establish reporting requirements. Perform daily Cognos query and report writing, as requested. Ability to program in SQL to perform the data query, reporting and data load functions. Support end-users on the data warehouse query and reporting tools and BI applications. May perform Cognos Administrator functions, such as production deployments of reports, packages and cubes, user security, report scheduling and troubleshooting. Document report designs and processes in a clear and concise manner. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of Cognos 8 Business Intelligence products including Framework Manager, Query Studio, Report Studio, and Analysis Studio, or equivalent Business Intelligence tools. Strong SQL query skills. Strong data analysis and report writing skills. Relational and Star Schema / Dimensional database modeling and design skills. Ability to be flexible and work within a team environment. Ability to effectively communicate in non-technical terms with business unit management and end users for information and reporting delivery solutions. Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science or related field. Four years of related experience can substitute for the degree. 4 years experience to include: o Data Warehouse projects from design through production deployment and support. o SQL Development and Report Writing experience. o SQL Server 2000 / 2005, DB2, Oracle or a comparable relational database. Data warehouse experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Insurance related information delivery experience. Property & Casualty insurance experience. 2 years experience with Cognos Business Intelligence Reporting and OLAP tools. Cognos Administration knowledge and skills.
