Hyperion Developer

6+ Months

*Qualifications*

- 3 years development experience with Essbase cubes (including development
and maintenance of hierarchies, member formulas, load rules, calc scripts
and partitions)

- Experience with automation of cube maintenance via Esscmd or MXL
scripting

- Experience with use of Excel Add-In to access data and hierarchies within
the cube

- Some experience working with other Hyperion applications (any of the
following: Hyperion Planning, Financial Reporting, Web Analysis Reporting,
Interactive Reporting, EIS, Smartview, MDM)

- Proven experience designing and optimizing Essbase cubes





*Principal Responsibilities*

1. Essbase version 9 (create, modify and maintain BSO and ASO Essbase
cubes):

a) Dimensions, dense/spares configuration, partitioning

b) Member Formulas & Calc Scripts

c) Load Rules

d) Substitution Variables

e) Automation of cube builds and loads through MXL and batch scripting on
an AIX system



2. Planning (create, modify, and maintain Hyperion Planning Applications):

a) Create, modify and maintain all other Hyperion applications

b) Create & maintain forms

c) Load rules

d) Administer setup and security

e) Competent with integrity management



3. Reports (create, modify, and maintain reports):

a) Design, implement and build reports within Financial Reporting, Web
Analysis or Interactive Reporting

b) Use Workspace to schedule reports and push results to the users

c) Troubleshoot issues in reports related to data or formatting



4. SQL (access data in relational source systems):

a) Write queries to retrieve data from relational source systems for
insertion into Essbase cubes

b) Use ad-hoc queries to investigate data issues in relational source
systems

c) Write queries within Interactive Reporting to produce reports for users



5. Unix (maneuver within a UNIX environment):

a) Manipulate files and directories within an UNIX environment

b) Change permissions on files to allow for write or executable access

c) Use cron to schedule jobs



6. User Interaction:

a) Take calls from users and respond to their needs in a quick and
courteous manner

b) Investigate issues in reports or cubes and report back on the root cause

c) Recommend corrective actions for issues, taking into account user needs
and IT resources
