*Oracle DBA*
Hands-on database physical build and maintenance of:
o Oracle RDBMS, RAC, CRS, ASM
o MySQL RDBMS, Master/Slave config, etc.
o Oracle RMAN and MySQL backups & recovery
o Monitoring tools (AWR, Statspack, OS Watcher, Grid, etc.)
o Install and manage Oracle patches
o Oracle Utilities (exp/imp, Data Pump, plsql, sql*plus, etc.)
o Light script writing with PERL and Shell
This is a hands-on role where significant participation in build and
escalated support activities will be expected, including highly technical
problem solving and / or performing technical audits of work done by GID
staff and vendors
Interfaces with Software Development and Infrastructure teams and others to
draft & approve detailed work plans and deployment schedules.
Demonstrates creative thinking and innovative approaches using multiple
technologies and works to clarify technical ambiguity.
Implementing best practices, new technologies, and consistent
administration are expected as well as knowledge transfer and mentoring to
other GID DBA team members
Accountable for creating and maintaining the infrastructure plans and
ensuring that implementation of those environments are on time and on
budget as well as preparing the weekly status on tasks, issues, defects to
the Project lead
Work closely with Unix, Storage, QA, Performance, Deployment Engineer, and
Development teams

Qualifications *
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS
3 –5 years experience with Oracle DBMS and related technologies that
include: ASM, Data Guard, High Availability, Snapshot/Replication
technologies, partitioning, RMAN, OEM, RAC, Statspack, AWR reports, OS
Watcher, etc
Should be able to translate an Object model/Data Models into highly
efficient DB designs
Have working knowledge and some hands-on experienced in tuning and
optimizing database & queries working closely with Application Developers
Proficient in troubleshooting and tuning applications, system configuration
and database software parameters.
Working knowledge in PL/SQL coding techniques and performance tuning at the
system, application and SQL code levels
Experienced in installation, configuration, troubleshooting Oracle RAC 9i –
10g
Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux is required (specifically AIX )
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced implementation environment.
Excellent communication skills.
Team player who has a customer focus and excels at bringing their
professionalism and expertise into the Information Engineering DBA team.
