This will be a senior system engineer position for Windows and Red Hat
Enteprise Linux server virtual machines. This person will create the templates
used by managed service providers to create thousands of VMs. Automation skills
are greatly preferred
Summary:
Design, configure, and support virtual machines in multiple cloud
environments for Internet facing and virtual private cloud deployments.
Responsible for creating installation templates, deployment
scripts, documentation, and troubleshooting for thousands of virtual systems.
Must be capable of directing multiple managed service providers to
deploy virtual machines on demand using the templates this candidate created.
Must be adaptable and capable of creating automation scripts using
a variety of system management tools.
Requirements:
8+ years Systems Administration experience required
Microsoft Windows Server certification preferred
Red Hat Enterprise Linux server certification preferred
Builds templates used to create thousands of virtual machines that
are used to run operational systems
Directs the activity of multiple managed service providers to
deploy virtual machines on demand
Troubleshoots advanced problems with Production systems as
necessary
Creates automation processes using multiple management tools Skills
Automation skills such as PowerShell for Windows and/or shell
scripting for Red Hat Linux
Use of automated deployment tools for virtual machines
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills,
customer service and interpersonal skills
Expert ability to work independently and manage ones time
Expert mentoring skills necessary to provide support and
constructive performance feedback
Expert ability to identify, interpret and evaluate system and
network requirements
Expert knowledge of computer hardware and software as it related to
LAN/WAN
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct others to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve remote system
problems
Implementation of network security measures to protect data,
software, and hardware
Monitor system performance over time and capacity to determine
whether adjustments need to be made, and counsel organization on where changes
will need to be made in the future
