*POSITION SUMMARY:*
- As Mobile Engineer on the client platform team you'll help realize
this vision, implement a plan you co-author and deliver the code.
- The right candidate will have a strong mobile engineering background,
experience with both tech and media organizations, experience with both
startups and larger companies, and the proven ability to code, mentor,
sell, demo, and deliver.
*PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:*
- Advanced GUI development with sensitivity to information architecture
issues
- Work in and develop further software frameworks used at client and be
capable of extending those frameworks and classes while maintaining
integrity of the overall code base
- Native app developmentusing continuous integration / testing
- Develop and maintain the coding standards of the platform group
- Collaborate with other departments and technical teams to develop and
enhance creative and efficient approaches to software production
- Writing Technical Specifications for applications and interfaces to be
built
*JOB SKILLS:*
- Capable of analyzing complicated architectures and layouts and
translating that analysis into efficient technical strategies and code
- Fully conversant with OOP principles, software development frameworks
and design patterns
- Professional and expert knowledge of Android SDK
- Working knowledge of source control tools: SVN and Git
- Working knowledge command line interfaces in a UNIX environment
- Professional knowledge of XML, JSON, and data modeling
- Experience with open source software and social network APIs such as
FaceBook, Twitter, OpenId etc.
- Video Streaming technologies and associated editing programs a plus
- Professional knowledge of Java, Python, UNIX Shell scripting, (My)SQL,
etc a plus
- Ability to argue the pros and cons of MVC frameworks, sqLite
Databases, Agile Development, The UNIX Way, MIT Open Source License,
RESTful APIs
*TEAM SKILLS:*
- Capable of working closely with or being managed by peer-level
developers in SCRUM or Agile teams
- Good communication skills
- Commitment to getting results for time-sensitive launches, promotions
and events
- Capable of understanding business objectives and be able to translate
that business logic into technical design
- Able to work in a fast-paced team environment and be adaptable to the
demands of all levels and types of production duties
- Willing to take technical risks
*EXPERIENCE:*
- At least three years of mobile development experience
- Experience working in mid to large size development teams
- Some experience with apps with networked data from content management
systems
*EDUCATION:*
- Post Secondary degree (BA, BSc) and or Graduate level (MA, MSc, MFA)
