I do use for more than four yeas the solution: mutt with fetchmail and exim, I do use my fm script to tell fetchmail which .fetchmailrc-mmm .fetchmailrc-nnn to use, and that's all, that's the best, and the simplest solution, and exim is a nice and easy to set tool. If I want to filter out mail, then there is .procmailrc who can do that. This is a solution you can install and config and run between ten minutes; btw download my fetchmenu_ponmenu.tar.gz on brlspeak.net/blinux It may help you.
